From Freep.com:
Americans and Michiganders have exercised their First Amendment rights to the fullest in the ongoing debate over federal health care legislation.
But state Rep. Brian Calley, R-Portland, said he thinks citizens and individual states may need another weapon to deploy against encroachment by the national government: an assertion of rights under the 10th Amendment.
Calley introduced a resolution last week to place before Michigan voters a state constitutional amendment to prohibit mandatory participation in a national health care plan. He said that right is guaranteed by the 10th Amendment limitation on federal power in the U.S. Constitution.
