From The Business Insider:
South Dakota Lt. Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced Monday he was running for the 2010 Republican nomination for governor, saying he has the political and business experience the state needs to weather tough economic times.
Speaking to a crowd of supporters in a barn on the farm where his grandparents settled in 1911, Daugaard said his six years as a state senator and seven years as lieutenant governor gave him the political know-how to run the state. His ten years in banking and 20 years leading the Children’s Home Society of South Dakota taught him how to lead people, make payroll, erase debts and build savings, he said.
“As I stand in the same place I did as a child I stand here with a lifetime of experience that makes me ready to lead this state,” he told supporters.
