From NewsOK.com:
To whom much is given, much is returned.
Attorney General Drew Edmondson, now running for governor, has long been in a position to pick outside lawyers for litigation in which the state is involved. That would be true of any person holding the AG’s job, but Edmondson has been especially litigious.Oklahoma state attorney general Drew Edmondson returns to the federal courthouse after the lunch break in the Arkansas poultry pollution trial, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, in Tulsa, Okla. Money is flowing back to Edmondson from law firms, with 70 percent of gubernatorial campaign contributions from the legal sector going exclusively to him.
Edmondson has amassed a huge war chest, garnering $600,000-plus from lawyers alone. The candidate figures to need the money: He faces a tough primary fight against Lt. Gov. Jari Askins, and 2010 promises to be a difficult year for Democrats.
