From Amarillo.com:
Hey, wait a minute. Didn’t an Illinois governor get tossed out of office a few months ago for offering payoffs to people interested in becoming his state’s next U.S. senator?
Weren’t Americans outraged at the governor’s conduct – which we all called “pay to play” – and didn’t that state’s legislature do the right thing when it voted unanimously to remove him from office?
Well, we’re seeing something quite similar. Witness the deal-making that resulted in U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson’s “yes” vote on a sweeping health care reform package that now puts other states on the hook for paying Nebraska’s Medicaid bill – one of the deals struck to win Nelson’s vote.
That’s why Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott is right to join other state attorneys general in challenging the agreement that resulted in the Senate vote on the health care reform package.
