Ohio Republican DeWine up Big Over Democrat AG

A newly released poll of 600 likely voters shows former U.S. Sen. Mike DeWine trouncing current Attorney General Richard Cordray by 18 points in the 2010 race to become the state’s top attorney.

Conducted at the end of January, the poll shows DeWine with a 50 percent to 32 percent lead on Cordray, a Columbus Democrat who won a 2008 election to finish out the term of Democrat Marc Dann.

The poll shows DeWine with a 48 to 22 percent edge over Cordray in the Attorney General’s race when it comes to a key segment of swing voters – those who describe themselves as independent. It also shows DeWine leading in all major media markets across Ohio with the exception of Toledo, where Cordray holds a nine-point edge.
