From The Arizona Republic:
Saying he would best uphold the office’s standards of fairness and justice, Superintendent of Schools Tom Horne on Thursday announced his candidacy for attorney general.
“Today I am announcing that I am running for attorney general so that I can continue to make conservative principles work for the taxpayers,” said Horne, who has led the Department of Education since 2002.
Horne said that if elected, his top priorities would be to fight crime, secure the border and “create a legal climate favorable to economic growth to attract jobs.”
The announcement, which has been expected for months, made Horne the second candidate to file paperwork for the Republican nomination. Tajudeen Oladiran, a Chandler attorney, also has filed paperwork.
