From Cleveland.com:
In 2008, Ohio House Democrats surfed a Barack Obama wave to net seven seats and seize back control of the chamber after 14 years in the wilderness.
On Thursday — as the filing deadline for the May primary passed for the 99 House races — Democrats embarked on the daunting task of maintaining their 53-46 edge as the Buckeye State is being battered by a 10.9 percent unemployment rate.
Nonetheless, House Speaker Armond Budish was resolute this week that House Democrats would keep the majority. They enter the fray this week with a fund-raising edge of more than 2-to-1.
