NY: Dem AG Asks For Insurers Justification

Nothing alarmist is this press release. I mean, the third headline (only in a press release, right?) of Cuomo’s press release reads “Issues Consumer Alert To New Yorkers about Potentially Deceptive Programs”. How many red flag words do you see? I guess it takes headlines to get headlines.

The state’s top law enforcement officer has sent letters to three state health insurers, requesting more information about the companies’ proposed physician-ranking programs.

Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said yesterday that the action was part of an “expanding industrywide” investigation into the practice, which he called “potentially deceptive” and “driven by financial motives and not consumers’ best interest.”
