From ArgusLeader.com:
President Obama’s signature of a sweeping new health care law was met with a lawsuit from a group of attorneys general representing 13 states including South Dakota.
The states want U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson of Florida, where the lawsuit was filed in federal court, to block implementation of the bill. But Gov. Mike Rounds has said that South Dakota will fulfill its duty to adhere to the law unless the judge rules otherwise.
The bill amounts to an unconstitutional encroachment on states’ rights, South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley said, and Rounds publicly backed the decision to join the lawsuit Tuesday.
Among other issues, the lawsuit points to the bill’s requirement that all U.S. citizens carry health insurance, starting in 2014.
