From Courier-Journal.com:
With a single day left in this year’s legislative session, House and Senate leaders are considering a budget compromise that would continue current-year spending levels through the next fiscal year.
House Speaker Greg Stumbo proposed the one-year continuation budget to Senate President David Williams on Wednesday in a last-ditch effort to get an agreement and avoid the need for a special session.
“A continuation budget would simply allow the governor to continue funding state government at the same levels that it was funded at … this fiscal year,” he said.
Spending in the current fiscal year, which ends June 30, is about $8.5billion.
