The Democrat controlled Louisiana House of Representatives is on the block…and Republicans will continue to make more gains on run-off day on November 17th.
Vitter, who got a standing ovation from members of the Republican State Central Committee at its quarterly meeting despite his recent personal problems, said he had raised $50,000 since Friday, when he and state GOP Chairman Roger Villere of Metairie first discussed the fundraising plan. The effort picked up $5,000 more Saturday from Rep. Mike Strain, R-Covington. Strain will become commissioner of agriculture and forestry Jan. 14 after forcing seven-term incumbent Bob Odom, a Democrat, into a runoff. Although Odom ran 1 percent ahead of Strain in the primary, he said Thursday he was dropping out of the runoff, making Strain the winner.
