TALLAHASSEE – Lawmakers return to work today facing a midnight deadline to either send a property-tax-cutting package to voters or give up the fight for now.
Senate leaders sent their House counterparts a final offer Sunday that cuts taxes $12.4 billion over five years. It beefs up the $25,000 homestead exemption and allows longtime residents to apply their Save Our Homes tax discounts to a new home.
