CROWN POINT — Attorney General Steve Carter thinks convicted Lake County Councilman Will Smith should stop serving on the legislative body.But local officials contend Smith, convicted of a felony federal income tax violation, has both the backing of the state law and his constituents to continue in the post until he gets sentenced.
