SD: Campaign Violations Case Gets Not Guilty Pleas

Prosecutors say the two men formed a trust called the South Dakota Association Trust. Money from the casino, owned and operated by the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate, with headquarters in northeast South Dakota, was wired in several deposits to the trust.Campaign reports of Forward South Dakota, the lead group opposing video lottery, showed more than $470,000 in contributions from the South Dakota Association. That was almost all of the money Forward South Dakota received, its reports show.

Secretary of State Chris Nelson said there is no report from the South Dakota Association. Nelson and Attorney General Larry Long argue that the South Dakota Association is a ballot-question committee that is required by law to report its contributions and spending.
