Abel Maldonado, California’s highest-ranking Republican Latino, might also attract national attention. Even in San Jose, if the stars align and Major League Baseball waves everyone home, voters may be asked to bless a long-awaited A’s stadium.

After a campaign season that saw a jaw-dropping $150 million-plus spent on political campaigns, this next round may make that look like so many couch coins.
