New Jersey Democrat Attorney General Zulima V. Farber resigned Tuesday evening after a state investigation determined that she had “violated her own departments code of ethics” by aiding her boyfriend during a traffic stop.
What happened is this: Her boyfriend, Hamlet Goore, was stopped at a seat-belt enforcement checkpoint in Bergen County, New Jersey. It was determined that Mr. Goore was operating the vehicle a) with a suspended license, and b) with an expired vehicle registration. Goore’s vehicle was going to be impounded by the police – so he told them he was going to call his “companion” and that his “companion” was the attorney general.
AG Farber arrived at the scene in a state car, driven by a member of her protective detail – a state trooper, to help retrieve the items from the soon to be impounded vehicle of Mr. Goore.
Think that was a bit awkward for the arresting officer – the state's chief law enforcement officer shows up to help out her beau who you’ve just busted?
