This is worth a read for policy makers of all stripes. There will be some screaming from all corners on what full compliance means to all levels of sex offenders.
Ohio lawmakers, at the urging of Attorney General Marc Dann, changed the state’s sexual offender registry rules to comply with a federal law, known as the Adam Walsh Act. It requires states to toughen their registries and link them to a federal database by 2009 or risk losing federal crime-fighting money.By getting it done this year, the state qualified for bonus money.
