It’s not that these GOP hopefuls are embracing the WFP’s policies. Instead, they’re trying to tie an investigation involving the WFP to Democrats seeking the party’s support.
At the same time, some of these GOP challengers are also seeking their own third-party support from the still-under-construction Taxpayers organization launched by Buffalo gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino.
Both trends show how third parties in New York are valued by candidates on both sides of the primary partisan divide. That may be especially true in a year when voters may be put off by the standard Democratic or Republican label.
