For you avid Shot readers, this isn’t the first time we’ve covered this issue. We wrote about it earlier here, and here and now the state’s Republican A.G. John Suthers is pointing out an ever so small detail that the Governor’s office may have overlooked – the legal expenses that taxpayers will be saddled with as a result of this great political pander by the Democrat Governor. Not surprisingly, the Gov’s office, says they don’t think there will be any legal problems – of course not – why would bargaining and disagreements require a lawyer, have some more strawberry punch. And if there are any costs – do you think they’ll sign off on giving the Republican A.G. more money to defend the state – nah, they’ll tell him to make do with what he has, and then make it a campaign issue in 2010 when his office is stretched to thin and things fall through the cracks.. Think it’s far fetched?
Colorado’s attorney general said Wednesday that Gov. Bill Ritter’s executive order granting state workers bargaining powers will probably cost his office money.Attorney General John Suthers is the first state agency head to tell the legislature’s Joint Budget Committee that he expects to ask for extra money to cover costs from the controversial order.
