Less than a day after filing suit and asking a state judge to force a political opponent from airing a television attack ad, Royal Alexander — a candidate for attorney general — dropped the lawsuit.Alexander’s brother, Baton Rouge attorney Chris Alexander, explained after a brief Thursday court hearing that the lawsuit against James “Buddy” Caldwell was dropped after the Alexander campaign learned that “even lies under the context of political speech” are allowed by state law.
