Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson, an outspoken proponent of capital punishment, has urged that executions be halted pending a U.S. Supreme Court decision in a case based on the claim that lethal injections are cruel and therefore unconstitutional; a ruling isn’t expected until next year.
