You know in the name of homeland security they have those electronic billboards up all across the country telling citizens to call 555-TIPS if they see anything suspicious. We figure that’s the next logical step up in Pennsylvania – “If You See Taxpayer Dollars at Campaign Work, Call 555-TIPS!” The next step is probably roving bands of Guardian Angels cruising the halls of Harrisburg, and around swing precincts during election time.
Dec 4, 2007 — Two activists have launched an unusual venture aimed at discouraging illegal campaign work on the state’s dime – a crime watch inside the Capitol.Gene Stilp of Taxpayers and Ratepayers United and Dennis Baylor of the Pennsylvania Accountability Project set up a post office box for anonymous tips about campaign work done by state staffers or with state resources.
It’s called Capitol Crime Watch, and the activists say it’s the first of its kind in the nation.
